Neuronal Markers
a database of neuron-specific reporter genes and expression patterns

Using fluorescent membrane labels driven by sparsely expressed promoters, we can see details of neural development down to single cell resolution in many cases. Our publicly accessible     Neuronal Promoter Database     catalogues the molecular genetic details and imaged expression patterns from transgenic embryos expressing these markers.

To enable true single cell resolution in all cases we have developed methods for real time identification and photo conversion of individual cells useful for deterministic single cell labeling over shorter periods. We have also developed heat-shock methods that provide stochastic persistent single cell labeling.
